Dr. Michael J. Norwood earned his doctorate in performance psychology with an emphasis in exercise physiology and counseling psychology from the University of Kansas.  Under the direction of one of the world’s top sport psychologists, Dr. David Cook, the sport psychology program was considered at the time to be one of the best programs in the nation.

During his tenure as the coveted Director of the Peak Performance Clinic at Kansas, Dr. Norwood worked closely with student-athletes and coaches alike to enhance their performance both on and off the playing field.

He has played an integral part in the development of many student-athletes who have gone on to become successful professional athletes in the NBA, NFL, MLB, ATP and WTA.  Additionally, many former student-athletes have become pillars within their communities as top doctors, lawyers, teachers, coaches and business professionals alike.

After Dr. Norwood’s service at the University of Kansas he went on to play an instrumental role in designing curriculum along with Dr. Gerald Larson and launching one of the nation’s first accredited schools for personal trainers, The Professional Fitness Institute, where many of his former students have gone on to become leaders in the fitness industry.

Dr. Norwood is also a certified personal trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and is certified in Pilates through Body Arts and Sciences International (BASI).

Currently, Dr. Norwood is the technical director for one of the premier training studios in the nation, Core Fit Wellness in Las Vegas, NV., where clients are challenged and taught how to stick to their programs and enjoy the fitness process as an integral part of a complete and rewarding lifestyle.
